About Us

Our artwork begins long before a flower reaches the press. It begins with a seed, a patch of soil and the everyday care that helps something beautiful grow.

At Bloom Press Studio, we grow flowers in our own backyard in the Sunshine Coast region in Queensland. We sow, nurture and hand-pick them, then press and arrange the blooms into original botanical artworks. Being part of that whole journey is what makes this work so personal to us: the flowers we watch come into bloom are the same ones we sit down to create with.

We love the little things that make a flower itself — the curve of a stem, the fine texture of a petal, the unexpected way two colours sit together. Our pieces are a way of holding on to those details and bringing a little of the garden indoors.

Our garden in the Sunshine Coast region

From a tiny seed to a piece of art

There is a lot of quiet, hands-on work behind a finished frame. Here is how our garden-grown flowers make their way from the soil to the artwork you see in our shop.

Planting the seeds

Every season starts with possibility. We choose flowers for their colours, shapes and the details we would love to work with, then sow the seeds and care for the first seedlings. Long before we think about an arrangement, we are watching for those first small signs of life.

Growing & tending the flowers

Watering, pruning or tending flowers as they grow

Growing, nurturing & tending

As the seedlings grow, our attention stays in the garden. We water, prune and tend the plants as they need it, clear away spent growth and make room for healthy new growth. We follow each flower from its earliest leaves to its first buds, caring for the beds along the way until the blooms are ready to become part of our artwork.

Picking the flowers

Picking & preparing

When it is time to pick, we look closely at each bloom — its shape, colour and the character it could bring to a piece. We gather the flowers by hand and gently prepare them for pressing. A delicate stem or an unusual petal can become the detail that inspires an entire arrangement.

Pressing & drying

Fresh flowers are carefully laid out for pressing and given time to dry. This is a slower part of the journey, and one we do not rush. Opening the press reveals the flowers in a different form, ready for us to explore the textures, shapes and colours in each bloom.

Creating an arrangement

Arranging by hand

At the worktable, we begin bringing the pressed flowers together. We try different placements, balance colours and leave space for individual details to be noticed. Each petal, leaf and stem is arranged by hand, with the flowers themselves helping to guide the finished design.

Framing & finishing

Once the arrangement feels right, we finish the piece and frame it, giving the flowers a new setting beyond the garden. What began as a seed is now an original artwork, carrying the care of the growing, picking, pressing and making that came before it.

A little of our garden, for your home.

Growing the flowers ourselves keeps us connected to every piece we make. The garden shapes the colours, forms and little surprises in our work, and arranging real flowers by hand means no two pieces are exactly alike.

Thank you for being here, and for taking an interest in everything that happens before the frame.
